Courtyard House

FICTIONAL CONCEPT STUDY / 01

A compact home organized around daylight.

Exposed timber beams and roof rafters above a building site.

The brief

A narrow site called for careful sequencing and a restrained material palette. The fictional brief placed shared spaces around a courtyard so light could reach the center of the plan.

The constraints

A timber-focused brief needs coordinated structure, access and material decisions. The study considers how the order of those decisions affects the work on site.

The response

Access planning and early coordination of long-lead materials shaped the sample delivery approach.

The proposed approach starts with a documented scope, reviews the significant interfaces and gives the owner a clear route for approving decisions. It is an illustrative narrative, not a record of a completed commission.

What to carry into a real brief

Identify access limits, material lead times and the decisions that require design coordination. Ask which information is needed before pricing and which details remain provisional.

Let’s give the idea a solid start.

Tell us the scope, location and timing. We will use the first conversation to clarify the practical next steps.
